Carvins Cove Closed

Does this spring tease of warm weather have you in the mood to dust off the mountain bike and hit the trails? Well, if your plans included a trip to Carvins Cove, the popular 11,000-acre reservoir with a killer system of singletrack near Roanoke, you’ll have to readjust.

According to a report in the Roanoke Times, last month a fire caused by downed power lines and some high winds burned more than 4,000 acres in the area, including many trees near the trails. The city is currently evaluating the possible danger of future falling trees. Check with Roanoke Parks and Rec for information on when Carvins will reopen.
